The standard answer to this question is:  The IT Help Desk provides students with free software, like versions of Windows or Microsoft productivity software.  Go to the IT Help Desk on the first floor of the library to obtain those items.  Be sure to bring your SUNY Canton student ID, as you will have to show this to the folks at the desk who help you, and you'll also need to fill out a license agreement.  However, in your case, as an online student, you will have to contact the Help Desk directly to see what arrangements they have in place for online students.
